I'm Alan Ocken, and this is the story behind every Ravens’ Council knives.

I was raised in the foothills of Colorado, where my father—an old-school rancher shaped by the Great Depression and World War II—taught me the value of hard work, self-reliance, and the quiet dignity of a well-made tool. He believed that the right tool, chosen with care and used with respect, could shape not just wood or steel, but character.

Summers in my youth were spent cutting firwood to heat our home. Winters were for sharpening blades, repairing tools, and crafting knives. That rhythm of the seasons taught me patience, precision, and purpose.

I made my first knife in 1979 at the age of 14. By 1982, I had sold my first piece—and I’ve never stopped since.

Today, I’m a father and grandfather. Some of my children and grandchildren have served, or are still serving, this country. It’s for men and women like them—those who live with courage and conviction—that I make my Promise: Every Ravens’ Council knife is made by hand, one at a time. No shortcuts. No mass production. Just a one-of-a-kind heirloom, crafted for your needs and built to last.
